Nabila Tahsin Farah
Nabila Tahsin Farah is a Barrister-at-Law and legal academic with over a decade of combined experience in legal practice, higher education, and professional legal training. She currently serves as a Senior Associate at MSR & Partners, where she advises clients on matters relating to Family Law, Criminal Law, Writ matters, civil litigation, and property-related disputes, alongside her academic career in the United Kingdom.
In the UK, she also works with the reputed law firm Gens Legis Ltd as a Part-Time Legal Consultant, where she provides advisory services across a broad range of areas including immigration, nationality, asylum, human rights, family law, property matters, wills and probate, commercial agreements, and regulatory compliance.
Parallel to her legal practice, Nabila is a Law Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, where she teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate professional programmes, including SQE2 preparation, and contributes to Bar Training Course (BTC) assessments. She has also been invited by the university leadership to undertake module leadership for SQE2 modules in the upcoming academic year and to contribute to the SQE programme restructuring team, reflecting the institution’s confidence in her academic and professional expertise.
Prior to joining Nottingham Trent University, Nabila served as a Lecturer in Law at The University of Law (Leeds), where she delivered teaching across Criminal Litigation, Professional Ethics, Legal Research, Drafting, Advocacy, and Conference Skills for BPC, SQE, and LLM programmes. Her teaching emphasises practical legal skills, ethical practice, and real-world case analysis, helping to prepare aspiring barristers and solicitors for professional practice.
Earlier in her career, she held a long-standing academic position as a Law Lecturer at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), where she taught
core law subjects including Criminal Law, Family Law, Equity & Trusts, Tort Law, and Advocacy across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. During her tenure, she also served as Module Lead for Family Law and Practice, leading curriculum development initiatives and supervising numerous undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.
Her teaching excellence and innovative pedagogical approach were recognised with the Teaching Excellence Award (2022) from the Independent University of Bangladesh. She was also awarded the Nottingham Trent University Excellence Scholarship (2023–2024) for exceptional academic achievement during her LLM studies.
Alongside her academic career, Nabila has substantial legal practice experience. She previously worked as an Associate at Huq’s Law Counsel, where she advised clients and conducted litigation in Family Law, Trusts, Wills & Estates, property disputes, and criminal matters, achieving a 90% success rate in litigation outcomes. Her work involved client consultation, dispute resolution, legal drafting, and representation in complex legal matters.
Nabila’s academic and professional background enables her to effectively bridge the gap between legal theory and practical advocacy, allowing her to provide both clients and students with a strong understanding of law in practice.
She is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and the Dhaka Bar Association.
